Jazz @ The Vine - High Society Jazz Orchestra

High Society Jazz Orchestra was formed in 2007 and performs a range of music from the 1920s to 1940s with a repertoire best described as a combination of hot, sweet and novelty.  The band is nominally based in Wangaratta but draws on a range of musicians from across the region.  The band features two talented local vocalists, Rob Humphrey and Linda Simpson.  Rob brings an authenticate replication of the male singers of the era with influences such as Rudy Vallee and Bing Crosby along with more contemporary crooners such as Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.  Linda is a professional singer/songwriter with a love of Musical Theatre and played Judy Garland in ’The Boy From Oz’ and Reno Sweeney in ‘Anything Goes’.

In keeping with the ethos of the era, the band doesn’t take itself too seriously, with the prime objective of having fun doing what we love. So put on your gowns, polish your spats, brush off your fedoras and come down for a dance … and expect the unexpected!

Warm up for the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues with the ‘High Society Jazz Orchestra’ as part of the ‘Jazz At The Vine’ series of performances in association with Wangaratta Arts Council.
