Jazz @ The Vine - The Daisies

Wangarattas newest Jazz Band, The Daisies was formed out of the love for Cool Jazz, the type you can relax into on a winter’s evening beside the fire. The'yre on the mellow side with double bass, guitar, vocals / clarinet and flugelhorn, and love playing the music of 50’s and 60’s Jazz from people like Cole Porter, Ella Fitzgerald and Miles Davis.

Jane Still – Vocals & Clarinet

From a young age Jane has been chasing the joyful high of music through voice and clarinet. Her classical and choral background informs her style, and her love of fun and funky informs her vibe. In The Daisies she can indulge her love of all that is sweet, smooth and sassy.

Ben Thomas – Flugelhorn & Trumpet

I love exploring where music can take you. From growing up playing in a brass band to a festival marching band in New Zealand I've enjoyed a wide variety of music. Cool jazz by the likes of Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis has always been something I've appreciated and The Daisies definitely love playing in this patch.

Ian Wade – Guitar

Ian has worked extensively as a professional musician and as a session musician playing all styles of music. Since completing a Diploma in Music (Jazz & Popular) he has had an urge to create standard Jazz and Latin tunes and to arrange pop rock tunes into a Cool Jazz style. The Daisies fits the bill perfectly.

Andrew Nunn – Double Bass

I have found my way into to Jazz through Hip Hop. I have since learnt the basslines that I love have jazz origins. I have been lucky to find The Daisies who love jazz.
